Welcome, everyone to The Carnival of the Infosciences No 8. First of all, thanks to Mark for pointing out that our Infosciences carnival is now being tracked by blogcarnival.com. And without further ado, on to the submissions....The Main Event
Our first submission this week comes from Travis Ennis who asks MLS/MIS student bloggers Why Do We Blog?. He's hoping to create a Carnival of student submissions. Should be good. In response, Joy Weese Moll has posted an updated list of MLS student bloggers
Joy has also posted about the comprehensive exam requirement at Mizzou's library school at Wanderings of a Student Librarian
Von Totanes, The Filipino Librarian recommends the 3-part Image is Everything from Zarah Gagatiga's School Librarian in Action: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3. As well, Von has contributed several great postings of his own including Sex In The Library (and no, it's not about what you're thinking....) and Ateneo's Rizal Library, about an example of effective library marketing. He's also started a series that recognizes Outstanding Librarians of the Year including Outstanding Librarian 2005: Milagros Santos-Ong
Christina Pikas recommends some great blog posts from the past week including Dave Pollard's The psychology of information, or why we don't share stuff on his how to save the world blog. (Pointed to by Carolyne). Christina also points to this past week's postings by SLA member, MLS and law student, Eli at Confessions of a Mad Librarian, particularly her commentary on UMich and the Google suit. Finally, she recommends Matthias Melcher's post: Detours in desktop applications

Hi Randy:
Thanks for the congratulations! The Carnival was started by Greg at The Open Stacks a few weeks ago (well, 8 to be exact). There aren't any FAQs that I know of, but his original posts on the subject should help to explain the concept - here, here and here
